Is technical & web support included in the cost of my Norstar service plan?
All Norstar network and product support is included in your agreement.
If I want to integrate my phone system with some of my software applications is that possible?
Because Norstar’s hosted solution is built on industry standards, customers can take advantage of pre-existing integrations to such applications as Outlook, Salesforce.com, and many more. The Norstar platform is also supported by open APIs enabling integration into your applications.
How do you conduct user training?
Norstar offers training in a variety of methods, to best suit the way your users prefer to learn. Training can be provided on-site or via the web, and a wealth of Quick Reference Guides and Quick Tip Videos that can be accessed at any time.
Is the voice quality the same as a traditional phone network??
Yes. Norstar calls are transmitted over a private network.
What special equipment is required for Norstar service plans?
In most cases Norstar will provide your business with all necessary equipment. All you need is high-speed Internet (broadband connection), a VoIP phone, and a computer. If you don’t already have compatible VoIP phones installed in your office, no problem! You can choose to purchase or rent phones from Norstar for as little as $4.99 per month per phone. Phones plug directly into your broadband connection and operate just like a regular traditional telephone.
Can I use my current business phone number with Norstar service plans?
Yes, customers can use their existing numbers along with any toll free numbers.
You will need to fill out a LNP (Local Number Port) form. Fill this form out and send it back to us to begin the porting process.
Are there any setup fees?
There are no setup fees or hidden charges with Norstar.
How do I add users? How do I handle and pay for moves, adds and changes (MACs)? How long does it take for your technicians to come on site for these MACs?
Making moves / adds / changes is as simple as the click of a mouse via our award-winning Portal. There is no need to go through the lengthy process of scheduling and dispatching a technician to administer any changes.
What Are The Bandwidth Requirements?
Each active call requires approximately 88 kbps up/down of bandwidth from a DSL, Cable, T1, or Fiber broadband connection.
What are the benefits of VoIP?
The primary benefits are excellent voice quality, robust feature set and much lower cost.
How Do I Activate My Phone?
Your phones are shipped fully configured for each user. To activate your phone,
- Connect the phone to your Internet connection using the provided cable.
- Connect the phone to the power supply.
- Wait for phone to boot up; your phone may reboot multiple times to download the newest firmware.

Will my existing phone service be interrupted during the set-up of Hosted-PBX?
NO, the conversion to VoIP is very smooth. Your new phones will be deployed and fully operational, able to make outbound calls. At a predetermined date and time, your phone numbers will switch over from your old system and ring-in on the new system.
Can I use my own hardware or device with the Norstar Service?
Yes, you can bring your own hardware and use it with Norstar business VoIP solutions. As long the device is a secure device and we have the firmware for the device, we will work with you to program it. Contact our sales department to answer any questions you have about using your own hardware.
Do you have an online portal that I can access?
Yes, we have an online portal for users and administrators to access and make changes.
What is a DID?
Direct Inward Dial (DID) numbers allow outside callers to make a call directly to one user. In most cases, the DID associated with a user’s phone will show up on the display. When this number is dialed by an outside caller, only the associated phone will ring (unless special forwarding features are in place otherwise).
What is an IP Phone?
IP phones are digital telephones that connect directly to the internet via a router. These phones come in both cordless and corded models.
Does Norstar provide a web portal to customers?
Yes, Norstar’s award-winning customer portal enables unprecedented control over Norstar services and interactions including moves, adds, applications and changes, billing and much more. With our portal customers gain complete control over the key aspects of their Phone Systems.
Is Norstar’s UCaaS platform multitenant or virtualized?
Norstar UCaaS platform is 100% multitenant of all services (session border control, core applications, feature services, media services, etc.) and is active / active diverse in our data centers.
Can I switch my current toll-free number to Norstar?
Yes, porting your toll-free number to Norstar may take anywhere between 7 to a maximum of 30 business days, but it will be completed without any service interruptions.
Can I forward calls to my mobile device?
Yes, our service will allow you to forward calls to your mobile device or any other phone.
I have 5 locations in 3 different states, can I have Norstar Service?
Yes, our Network coverage includes all US 50 States and Canada. Norstar will support your current or future expansion plans.
Who handles the migration and implementation?
All Norstar implementations are assigned to dedicated project managers that lead you through the installation process. Nothing is left to chance!
What happens if my hardware breaks?
Because we offer complete management and maintenance of your entire system, if something breaks, we will replace it at no additional charge.
Can I create my own personal greetings and hold music?
Yes, you can record your own personal greeting or special marketing or holiday message
Do I have to sign a contract for service?
Norstar does not require you to sign a contract. We do require 30 day written notice prior to cancellation of service. If you would prefer to have your service based on a contract, we are able to develop and negotiate one based on your business needs
Call Forwarding, How do I forward calls from UC-One Communicator?
You can forward calls from a number of locations including your phone and your UC-One Communicator application. To do this from UC-One go to the preferences tab and select the incoming calls list. Then select call forwarding and enter the number to send calls to. Please note that this function will send all calls to this number.
Do you offer sms service ?
Yes, we do offer SMS Service. Close more sales by SMS enabling your main business line.
What are the primary benefits of Norstar Hosted Voice?
Norstar Hosted PBX customers do not need to purchase or maintain an expensive PBX and can expand to gain a customer service Call Center.
